Full bodied complex red wine

Occasion: Christmas dinner!

Food Pairing: Roast ham, duck, or other gamey meats, charcuterie

Tasting notes: Rubin is a grape with two very noble parents - Syrah and Nebbiolo. You get the best of both in this wine - dark cherries, dried rose petals, raspberries, and pepper. With 8 months of American oak, and 7 years aging, the tannins are smooth and silky. Despite its age, it is still full of primary fruit characteristics, and should age beautifully for at least a decade, though it's ready to drink now with decanting.
